Lib Dem calls for council tax freeze

Epping Forest residents deserve a break from relentless council tax rises, according to the Liberal Democrats. At last night's district council budget meeting Liberal Democrat councillors proposed a council tax freeze. However the Lib Dem budget amendment was rejected, meaning that council tax will increase again this year. Liberal Democrat Group Leader Jon Whitehouse, who proposed the budget amendment, said:

Following yet another accident on Epping New Road, local residents have approached Cllr Ann Haigh to organise a petition to make the road safer.

Poor Bus Service

The H1 bus service from Loughton to Harlow no longer runs on weekdays and there are only four H1 buses each way on Saturdays. Residents who need to go to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow will have to use the 55 service on weekdays. Not that either service actually takes you right there, as buses go only as far as the bus station.

Refuse collection Update

Local Liberal Democrat campaigners and councillors have been in contact with Epping Forest District Council regarding the large number of missed collection. Some residents' black wheelie bins have not been collected since December 10 2009.
