Epping Forest residents deserve a break from relentless council tax rises, according to the Liberal Democrats. At last night's district council budget meeting Liberal Democrat councillors proposed a council tax freeze. However the Lib Dem budget amendment was rejected, meaning that council tax will increase again this year. Liberal Democrat Group Leader Jon Whitehouse, who proposed the budget amendment, said:

"In recent years local taxpayers have paid millions of pounds in council tax simply to increase the council's reserves. Residents now deserve a break from relentless council tax rises, especially as times are tough an household budgets are under pressure from rising prices."
