'We can cut crime' says Buckhurst Hill Liberal Democrats
Local Lib Dems brought the "We can cut crime" campaign to Buckhurst Hill on Saturday 3 February by asking residents to sign up to their five point plan to tackle crime in Epping Forest.
The Lib Dem plan includes:
1) More police on patrol - don't waste billions on ID Cards
2) Take back our Town Centres - let communities close pubs and clubs that cause trouble
3) Make sentences mean what they say - Life should mean life
4) Compulsory work and training in prison - to cut re-offending
5) More compensation for victims - paid for by prison work
Buckhurst Hill East Liberal Democrat District Councillor Peter Spencer said:
"We are bringing the "We can cut crime" campaign to Buckhurst Hill because we believe we need effective action in our area to tackle crime.
"Local people are fed up of living in fear of crime. We want to take effective steps to tackle crime by putting more police on patrol and taking action to take back our town centres making them safer for local families.
"Unlike the Conservatives and Labour who offer meaningless 'tough-talk' sound-bites, the Liberal Democrats are proposing effective action to tackle crime.
The Liberal Democrats on Buckhurst Hill Parish council have been working hard to reduce the fear of crime and take back the parish. They rescued the Roding Centre from threats of Tory cuts; they are regenerating the Roding Valley playground and are working to open a youth meeting point.
