Theydon Bois councillors Roland Frankel and Janet Whitehouse are backing the efforts of the team working to bring Theydon Bois youth centre back into use for local young people.

"The village has now been without this facility for years," said Roland. "Meanwhile the taxpayer picks up the costs of maintenance and security. It's a waste."

Roland has spoken strongly against houses being built on (or near) the youth centre site. The original closure was vigorously opposed by local residents, the parish council and county councillor Janet Whitehouse.

Roland said, "Through my involvement with the Scouting movement I have worked closely with young people in the village over many years. The youth centre scheme has great potential under good management once the county council finally hands over the building."
