Stop Speeding Damage

16 Sep 2005

Following repeated destruction of the fence at the corner of Theydon Road and Great Gregories Lane in Theydon Bois former county councillor Janet Whitehouse arranged for a week long assessment of traffic speed. Some residents wanted speed calming measures such as chicanes but county council officers say only lines and signs are permissible because the road is part of the county council's strategic road network.

The request for the 40 mph speed limit to be reduced to 30 mph has yet to be worked on but Janet has been told that the road is unlikely to meet the criteria in the county council's speed management strategy. On the positive side additional reflector posts have been installed.
