Roland Frankel launches petition to tackle dangerous junction

9 Mar 2014

Many Theydon Bois residents have called for Traffic Orders (yellow lines) to stop all-day parking in The Green.

It has become a normal occurrence for cars to fully occupy the whole of one side of The Green (formerly Chapel Road) from Avenue Road to the junction at Loughton Lane.

Parish councillor Annie Wood says, "All of the road approaching the junction is reduced to a single carriageway, and I have seen cars drive on the pavement to avoid a collision." Residents know that this is dangerous and obstructive as well as visually intrusive for the Village Green.

Theydon Bois Parish Council has been told by highways officers that the problem scores only 20 out of 100 on their measure of priority BUT this score might be elevated with sufficient public support.
