Response to Epping Forest College

25 Mar 2009

Councillor Ann Haigh responded to the news that Epping Forest College are reducing the number of A-Levels it currently teaches. Ann said: "I was dismayed to learn that Loughton College intends to reduce the number of A level courses it will provide. The Epping Forest District has no sixth form college and there is great pressure on the sixth form places available at West hatch in Chigwell and many of our young people are travelling to Harlow College to continue their education. An emphasis on vocational learning will not address the needs of those young people who wish to take their studies to graduate level.

As a young mother in the 1970's I was able to take two A levels at Loughton College and then went on to obtain my degree and professional qualification, I have much to thank the college for and saddened that others may not have the same opportunity."
