Residents in favour of one-way streets

18 Jan 2005

Following the success of the mini-roundabouts' campaign, with which the Lib Dem Team were assisted by a local resident, Cyril Gersch, the FOCUS Team has turned its attention to the problems of Stag Lane and Church Road. Stag Lane will soon be affected by the development of flats on the Thames Water depot site with an underground garage entrance onto the lane.

Late last year, Michael Heavens (Parliamentary Spokesman), Anne Haigh (County Councillor) and the Buckhurst Hill FOCUS team carried out a survey of residents' views who live in Stag Lane, Church Road and their side roads. The majority of Stag Lane and Church Road residents are in favour of one-way streets provided that steps are taken to control traffic speed. Everyone voted for a 20 MPH speed limit!

Michael and Anne will pass on the results of their survey to Epping Forest District Council and Essex County Council.
