Railway works

31 Oct 2008

Lib Dem district councillors Janet Whitehouse and Jon Whitehouse have taken up residents' concerns about plans to remove trees and other vegetation from the railway line between Brook Road and Epping Station.

Together with town councillor Olive Dunseath they attended a meeting with residents and representatives of Metronet.

London Underground needs to improve the stability of the embankments but the construction works will be disruptive and the removal of the trees will spoil many residents' outlook. "We are working with the district council's tree officer and local residents to persuade Metronet to reduce the impact of the works and do a proper replanting scheme afterwards," said Cllr Jon Whitehouse.

Work is expected to start this month.
