MP Expenses

27 May 2009

Many residents have told the Liberal Democrat Team they are unhappy that Conservative MP Eleanor Laing is claiming for a second home when she lives within commuting distance of Parliament.

They are unhappy that they have to commute daily into London, often working long hours and having to put up with poor service on the Central line, yet their local MP is able to claim for a second home.

Key Facts

1) Nick Clegg has pledged to support all recommendations from the independent review

2) None of the Liberal Democrat MPs who serve a London constituency have a second home.

3) Liberal Democrat MPs voted for MPs expenses to be available for independent audit. Eleanor Laing voted against this!

4) UKIP voted against reforming European Parliament's own system of pay, tax, pensions and expenses.
