Over summer the district council has consulted with residents and councillors about the revised local plan. The local plan sets out the issues that the council will take into account when deciding planning applications, so it is very important to get the details right.

Although she supports the local glasshouse industry Waltham Abbey North East councillor Pat Brooks has submitted objections to the encroachment of glasshouse areas on land right up to Parklands and Crooked Mile.

"This is green belt land and there must be some buffer between the glasshouses and residential areas," said Pat. The revised local plan also protects existing green belt land from residential development.
