Well-known Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik joined Councillor Ann Haigh and a team of campaigners outside Loughton Station handing out surveys to find out how the current economic situation is affecting the life of residents in Epping Forest.

The government's own figures show that bread is up a fifth, butter and eggs over over a third and potatoes by over quarter quarter.

"People are feeling the pain the the credit crunch and prices prices," said Ann Haigh. "The government s doing too little, too late to help people get through the hard times."
