Essex Lib Dems shocked by Chief Executive's pay increase

28 Aug 2011

The Opposition Liberal Democrats have expressed shock and dismay that the

Chief Executive of Essex County Council has received a £6,900 bonus payment.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Cllr Mike Mackrory, said -

"At a time when staff are facing a pay freeze and many hundreds of loyal, hard working council staff are losing their jobs, and many more are worried about theirs, it is time for the Council to review its policy for bonus payments for senior executives. In the current economic climate bonus payments should not be paid for simply carrying out their jobs."
