Following pressure from local Liberal Democrats, Epping Forest District Council will soon be announcing an expansion of recycling.

Councillor Janet Whitehouse has been campaigning for years to get the district council to collect aluminium foil and containers. Although not formally announced, residents can start recycling silver foil and containers immediately along with the other dry recyclables in the clear sacks.

On hearing the news, Councillor Janet Whitehouse commented: "Many residents, especially the elderly who rely on meals-on-wheels, have been asking for this service for years.

I am pleased pressure from the Liberal Democrats means that residents will be able to recycle silver foil. This will increase the recycling rates in EF and keep the foil out of expensive landfill sites."
