Liberal Democrat councillors in Epping Forest are calling on the district council to investigate how it provides advice to residents in the current economic downturn.

Councillors Jon Whitehouse and Ann Haigh have tabled a motion for Tuesday's council meeting. It calls on the council to work with local organisations to review its current debt and money advice provision and review the financial support it provides to the Citizen Advice Bureau.

Councillor Ann Haigh said "Councils should be taking the lead in supporting residents in times of need. The local Citizen Advice Bureau does a great job offering impartial advice and tries to help those in need. The council needs to be sure that everyone who needs this advice can obtain it."
