Call for Older People's Forum in Epping Forest

Liberal Democrat Epping councillor Janet Whitehouse called for an Older People's Forum when the District Council's Corporate Plan was discussed at Cabinet on 9 March 2015.

The plan says that the council will work with other agencies to understand the effects of an ageing population and to make appropriate plans and arrangements to respond to this need. Janet pointed out that there was no mention of involving older people in this. She asked for representatives of the many older people's organisations in the district to be invited to form an Older People's Forum.

"Many older people's organisations have a saying 'Nothing about us without us' " she said. It is unlikely from the response that Janet received that the council will take this forward in the near future.
