Bollard scheme to solve parking problem

PARKING problems have driven Epping town councillors to spend over £3,000 on parking bollards across the entrance of the Epping Hall.

The St Johns Road venue has suffered an ongoing problem of residents disregarding parking restriction signs.

Although installing a waist-high galvanised steel gate would have cost an estimated £1,000, three telescopic and two fixed bollards across the entrance of the hall - costing £3,200 - proved to be the most favourable choice with councillors at last night's meeting.

However [Liberal Democrat] councillor Rob Macrae was opposed to the idea.

He told the meeting: "I loathe to spend £3,000 on parking bollards, you can actually replace play equipment for that. For me I understand the issue but I don't think it's the most serious."
