Back our troops

30 Dec 2009

Many British troops serving in Afghanistan are paid less than bobbies on the beat back home.

Lib Dem Leader Nick Clegg has launched a new campaign for better pay for British soldiers, bringing them up to the level earned by police and firefighters.

Soldiers' families are angry that their loved ones are being short- changed by Gordon Brown and the Labour government.

Nick Clegg said, "British soldiers are putting their lives on the line serving our country. They need decent pay and extra equipment to keep them safe.

Gordon Brown has let our troops down. It's time they got a better deal from the Government."
