Conservative u-turn on bus passes

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 25th Jul 2008

Following pressure from Councillor Pat Brooks and the Lib Dem Team on Epping Forest District council, the Conservatives have performed a u-turn on their bus pass policy.

From 1 April residents who are over 60 in Epping Forest are entitled to free travel on buses everywhere in the UK. However, the Conservatives wanted to restrict travel until after 9:30 am although other councils have found money to fund free travel after 9:00am.

The Lib Dem team are pleased that the Conservatives have 'rethought' their policy.
