Epping Forest Conservatives in disarray

Local campaigner and long term Waltham Abbey resident Christine Akers has been chosen to be the Liberal Democrat candidate in the forthcoming by-election

Local Conservatives are reeling from the resignation of one of their leading councillors.

Long-serving Tory councillor Jimmy Demetriou has resigned from his town council town council seat. Now he is threatening to resign from the district council too.

A by-election will now be held on Thursday 25 October. Waltham Abbey resident Christine Akers has been chosen to fight the seat for the Liberal Democrats.

SECOND COUNCILLOR RESIGNS

Meanwhile in Lower Nazeing, district councillor Toni Cooper has resigned from the Conservative group and now sits as an Independent.
