"Essex Police tell us that crime detection rates are going up but local people say they fear crime because they do not see police on our streets," reports councillor Pat Brooks.

The Chief Inspector has assured Pat that there are plenty of police on patrol in Waltham Abbey but they are mostly in patrol cars as they can respond more quickly.

Pat has asked they they put some more police out walking to give local people a more reassuring presence on the beat.

Don't forget the local police mobile number for non-urgent calls: 07715 771603.
