Plan needed for crucial site

12.00.00am GMT Tue 24th Apr 2007

Local Liberal Democrats are calling for the community to be involved in drawing up a masterplan for the area affected by Essex County Council's plan to move Epping Junior School from the top of St John's Road to a site with the Infants School in Coronation Hill.

Given the county council's record, many people are suspicious that the Conservatives will want to maximise their profit by cramming as many houses or flats as possible onto the site. However this is a central site that could potentially provide space for important community facilities.

We are pressing the district and county councils to site down with all those interested in the area to draw up a plan so that if the move goes ahead Epping residents don't lose out.
