Local campaigner Mick Spence has stepped up the Lib Dem campaign to prevent more Post Offices from closing.

Local Liberal Democrats have received confirmation from the Government that no Post Office is safe in the Buckhurst Hill area.

The Government announced at the end of last year that 2,500 branches are to be closed. These are in addition to the 4,000 that have already been axed since Labour came to power in 1997 and the 3,500 that were closed by the previous Conservative government.

Local Liberal Democrat campaigner, Mick Spence said, "The Government's attitude towards Post Offices is shocking. It appears they are washing their hands of the network.

"We have already seen the closure of 2 branches in Epping Forest between 1999 and 2005, with 12 more under threat."
