Here is a round up of news stories from your Epping Liberal Democrat Focus Team:

Youth and adult centre

LOCAL Lib Dem councillors have expressed concern at the Conservative county council's decision to close the youth and adult centre in St John's Road.

This follows the closure of the youth centre in Theydon Bois.

"We are pressing the county council to keep a local venue for adult education classes," said local town councillor Janet Hedges.

Bus shelter

Local Liberal Democrats have requested a map to help visitors find houses in Parklands more easily, and have again asked for a bus shelter.

Coopersale Common

At long last, after months of pressure, Coopersale Common is to be resurfaced.

Councillor Janet Whitehouse has again asked for the kerb stones by St Albans Church to be raised in order to protect people walking to and from the Church.

Weeds

The Liberal Democrats have taken up residents' concerns about weeds growing in the gutter in Amesbury Road, Western Avenue and elsewhere.

The pesticides previously used to keep weeds down all season now can't be used. New ones- though better for the environment - result in weeds regrowing more quickly.

Dog bins

The district council's animal welfare officer has arranged for a dog bin to be installed near the entrance to the path by Bower Court after councillor Janet Whitehouse took up a request from a local resident.

Flooding

Council officers have been trying to find the source of the water that has been running down Ivy Chimneys. 'It's important that the water is stopped. It could cause accidents in winter if it freezes' said Janet Whitehouse.
