Buckhurst Hill Lib Dems respond to Destroying of Trees

10.07.09am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 21st May 2006

Without warning, very early on the Saturday morning immediately after the District Council elections ,councillors Peter Spencer and Malcolm Woollard were summoned by residents in Hornbeam Road and Chestnut Avenue to witness the new owner of a triangle of land in Buckhurst Hill destroy trees and wildlife on a site previously owned by the Charles S French Charitable Trust.

Police, District officers and an RSPCA official were also summoned but were unable to stop the devastation. One tree remained standing and a tree preservation order has been placed on it.

For several years the Parish Council have been trying to negotiate with the trustees in order to secure various sites around Buckhurst Hill for the continued use and enjoyment by local residents.

Help the campaign by signing the petition on-line.
