Epping- Round Up!12.00.00am GMT Mon 27th Mar 2006
Here is a round up other problems affecting the Epping Area: ROAD REPAIRS THE Lib Dem team has reported day burning lights in Allnutts Road, Hemnall Street, Ivy Chimneys, and Coronation Hill for repair. Broken road signs in Station Road, at the Brook Road/Stewards Green Road junction and in Houblons Hill have also been reported. HIGH STREET LIBERAL DEMOCRAT councillors have continued their efforts to protect the character of Epping High Street. District councillors Jon Whitehouse and Janet Whitehouse led the call for refusal of a recent planning application for an illuminated bank advertisement. "It may only be a small advertisement' said Jon "but if this is allowed other more intrusive signs may follow. We have a policy that such signs are not permissible and we should keep to it". The application was refused. TUBE FARE CHANGES CHANGES TO the fares on London Underground have resulted in residents being charged full fare, despite having Epping Forest concessionary passes. Janet Whitehouse raised this with the district council. London Underground promised that the passes would be honoured until they expire. However, this message does not seem to have reached all booking clerks. If you have been charged full fare and want to complain please contact Janet Whitehouse. STATION UPGRADE THE IMPROVEMENTS at Epping Station are mainly cosmetic, according to Liberal Democrat councillors. "It's a great pity that London Underground didn't respond to our requests to do things that would really make a difference, such as opening the gate into Hillcrest Way on Platform One at peak times," said town councillor Janet Hedges.
