Liberal Democrat campaigners Jan McCulloch and Carol Taylor have thanked everyone in Buckhurst Hill who voted for them in the Buckhurst Hill parish council by-election. The result was:

Jan McCulloch (LD) - 437 ELECTED

Carol Taylor (LD) - 421 ELECTED

Conservative - 370

Residents - 277

Turnout 870 (16.9%).

Jan and Carol replace Andrew and Lucille Thompson who moved away from Buckhurst Hill for work reasons. Buckhurst Hill parish council now consists of ten Liberal Democrat councillors and one Independent councillor (formerly a Residents Association councillor).

Jan and Carol have pledged to work hard for Buckhurst Hill and listen to local residents. "We are delighted to have received the support of local people and will do all we can to live up to their expectations," they said.

It is clear only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservatives in Epping Forest.
