New school for Epping is one step closer

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 28th Sep 2005

A new secondary school for Epping and the surrounding area is one step closer after district councillors gave outline planning permission in July.

Councillors had to balance the needs of local families and pupils against the fact that some of the development was in the green belt and the extra pressure traffic would put on Bury Lane at peak times. As a result of concerns raised by residents and councillors the amount of land allocated to housing is now less than that originally proposed.

The plan still needs approval from the government before it can go ahead.
