Clean Up Buckhurst Hill- Action Day June 4

11.23.40am BST (GMT +0100) Sat 28th May 2005

Councillor Eleonor Spencer writes: Following letters from school children and others concerned about litter on the riverbank and elsewhere, Buckhurst hill Parish Councillors organised teams of volunteers to pick up litter in the area.

On our first organised litter pick, we collected 25 bags of rubbish from the rugby field and riverbanks at the rear of Hornbean Road.

We would like to know whether residents agree that we should try to keep Buckhurst Hill clean.

We would also like to know if you would like to see it beautiful and whether you could help by joining our campaign to remove all litter from around your own properties and by reporting fly posting fly tipped flytipped rubbish to the information centre in Queens Road.

On a recent trip to Belgium and Holland I was amazed that no litter was t be seen anywhere including the shopping centres and beaches.

Is there any reason why we in this country cannot keep our towns and cities just as clean?

I urge all who would like to see a cleaner environment to join us at the information centre, Queens road, Buckhurst Hill, at 10am on Saturday, 4 June, and help us with our next organised litter pick. You will be very welcome.
