I should like to thank everyone who voted Liberal Democrat in the County and Parliamentary elections on 5 May 2005.

While I am disappointed at the result, I know that it will not deter Liberal Democrat councillors and workers from continuing to represent residents' interests and address their problems on the basis of Liberal Democrat principles of freedom, fairness and trust.

I am also disappointed that, despite hard-fought campaigns by Ann Haigh, Janet Whitehouse and the Liberal Democrat team, we lost the Buckhurst Hill & Loughton South and the Epping, Thornwood & Theydon Bois County Council seats, both of which were effected by boundary changes.

I believe that the manifesto commitment for 50% tax on income over £100,000 went against us in this generally very affluent constituency.
