Here is a round up other problems affecting the Epping Area:

NEW IMPROVED PLAYGROUND

Plans for the improved playground at Parklands, Coopersale are well advanced following consultation with people living nearby. The equipment has been ordered and will be installed soon. "We have considered carefully the comments of the residents and we hope that the new playground will be well used and enjoyed by the children," said town councillor Jon Whitehouse.

SPEED ASSESSMENT

Following complaints from residents about speeding traffic in Bower Hill county councillor Janet Whitehouse requested an assessment from Essex Police. Residents have told her that the best place to measure the speed is by Bower Court and by Charles Street. "I understood the cables were ready to be laid as soon as I said where they were needed, but we are still waiting," she said.

DANGEROUS CORNER

Several months ago a serious accident on the corner by St Alban's Church, Coopersale was narrowly averted when a car mounted the footpath as a pedestrian was walking to church. Local district and county councillor Janet Whitehouse discussed this with the council officers who have inspected the site. Their assessment shows that substantial work is required on the road but it is likely to be many years before it can be funded. Meanwhile officers are considering if bollards or some other physical barrier would be possible to protect pedestrians.

HOLES AND HAZARDS

At county council meetings Janet Whitehouse has frequently asked questions drawing attention to the poor state of the roads and pavements in Epping. She had numerous discussions trying to get the limited amount of funding spent on the most needy roads. She has recently reported potholes in Nicholl road, Hartland Road and Coronation Hill.
