Buckhurst Hill- Round Up!

12.00.00am GMT Mon 24th Jan 2005

Here is a round up other problems affecting the Buckhurst Area:

EPPING NEW ROAD

Ann Haigh and Michael Heavens have been taking Essex County Council to task over the faults in the Epping New Road "safety work", which was done without Buckhurst Hill councillors being consulted. The Lib Dem team are very worried about the "black spots" created by the scheme and have been promised a "safety audit".

NEW PARKING PLAN

The Parking and Road Safety Report will soon be published. It proposes a complete ban on day-time parking in Palmerston Road, which will get a school zone and a traffic-light controlled crossing & mini roundabout at the Westbury Road junction. One-way westwards (up the hill) is proposed for Westbury Lane and Westbury Road (north only) from Palmerston.

Controlled parking zones with residents, business and pay & display bays are proposed for Westbury Lane, Russell Road and the east end of Princes Road. One-hour daytime no waiting restriction is proposed for Knighton Lane and Loughton Way as far as Roding View. Other roads, where residents said that they did not want restrictions, have had any previous proposal withdrawn.
