Epping Round Up!

Action graphicHere are some more stories from the Epping Liberal Democrats:

HEDGE TRIM

Following complaints from residents in Madells the hedge by Pelly Court has been cut back.

PEDESTRIAN CROSSING REQUESTS

Essex County Council has confirmed that Station Road, Ivy Chimneys and Coopersale Common are to be assessed for pedestrian crossings.

SPEED WARNINGS

Bower Hill and Hemnall Street are to be assessed for Variable Message Signs which flash up the speed limit. Epping Liberal Democrat councillors have welcomed the news. "We have frequently told the county council about the dangers on these roads. We hope that the assessment will lead to the provision of the needed crossings and signs," said Jon Whitehouse.

The work will take place between 2006 and 2009 if the criteria are met. In addition work on speed limit schemes in Lower Bury Lane and Woodside, Thornwood will take place.

OPPOSITION TO FLATS

When the application to build 14 flats on the site of 66/66a Bower Hill came before the planning committee Janet Whitehouse spoke strongly against it and proposed refusal. "We need to stop and consider what kind of town we want," said Janet. "I think we have enough flats." The application was refused.
