Carol and Jan- Lib Dem Candidates for Buckhurst Hill Parsh Council

Buckhurst Hill Liberal Democrats have announced their candidates for the parish council by-election on Thursday 8 December.

CAROL TAYLOR

Carol Taylor is a former headteacher who lives in Princes Road. Carol is especially concerned about the environment. She is a keen gardener and looks after an allotment as well as her garden. Carol is committed to preserving community spirit in Buckhurst Hill. "We are very lucky to live in such an attractive and friendly area - but it will take hard work and effort to keep it that way," she said.

Her experience working with young people will be especially valuable when the parish council discusses facilities for children and young people.

JAN McCULLOCH

Longstanding Palmerston Road resident Jan McCulloch is already well known to some local residents because of her hard work fighting over development. Jan believes passionately in preserving the character of the town. Her 25 years experience of working in banking in the City will help make sure the parish council continues to be well run.

Janice is involved in local community organisations including the Buckhurst Hill Community Association. She is keen to protect local services such as the adult education classes at Bedford House and Buckhurst Hill's local library.

The election has been caused because Andrew and Lucille Thompson, who were founder members of Buckhurst Hill Parish Council, have needed to move away from Buckhurst Hill because of work. As well as being a former Chairman of the parish council Andrew Thompson was a long-serving district councillor for Buckhurst Hill West and Leader of Epping Forest District Council for two years.

"Both Jan and Carol know and care for Buckhurst Hill. They are committed to improving the area and they know it will take hard work and effort to keep Buckhurst Hill an attractive and friendly area," Andrew said. "I am delighted they have agreed to let their names go forward.

Jan and Carol have also received the backing of Buckhurst Hill West's team of district councillors.

"Jan and Carol will both do an excellent job of representing local residents' concerns and needs," said district councillor Ann Haigh.
