Cost of Iraq War Rockets

April 18, 2005 12:00 AM

The cost of Tony Blair's war in Iraq has soared to an incredible £3.5 billion and continues to rise every day.

Intelligence officials have confirmed that the US has stopped searching for Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. The existence of WMDs had been the stated reason for going to war with Iraq. Meanwhile the Attorney General has confirmed that the Government would not release the legal advice on the war in Iraq, despite a string of demands to see the papers under the Freedom of Information Act.

The claims that Mr Blair and Mr bush made to justify the rush to war have now been widely discredited. That includes Mr Blair's now infamous claim that Iraq could launch an attack using chemical and biological weapons in just '45 minutes'.

Lib Dem Westminster hopeful Dr Michael Heavens said "There are only two options- either Tony Blair was given bad information or he did not tell the truth. Either way, we deserve an apology and the truth."

The cost of the war and the continued presence of British soldiers in Iraq continues to rocket. The Government has revealed that the cost of to British taxpayers is currently running at £125 million a month.

Michael said, "We're often told by politicians that they cannot afford to provide decent pensions or buy enough books for schools, yet we have spent billions on a war in Iraq."
